OVERVIEW

The ICE Prioritization Framework is a repeatable decision-making system designed to help growth teams, product managers, and founders identify the most valuable projects to execute when resources are limited. It moves prioritization from 'who is loudest in the room' to a structured scoring model based on three variables: Impact, Confidence, and Ease.

PROBLEM DEFINITION

A growth team that works on a 'level 2' impact project instead of a 'level 8' project effectively loses months of potential revenue or user growth that cannot be recovered.

  • Backlogs grow indefinitely with no clear 'no' to low-value ideas.
  • The team spends too much time debating which project to start next.

8.0 - 10.0No-brainers. Do these immediately.
5.0 - 7.9Strategic bets. Require careful planning.

Failure Modes
  • Score Inflation
    Cause: Optimism bias leading to high scores for everything.
    Fix: Recalibrate using the 'Gold Standards' set.
  • Confidence Guesswork
    Cause: Assigning high confidence scores without data.
    Fix: Mandate an evidence link for any Confidence score > 5.
Troubleshooting
